notes on block

A place for ideas, process, and the odd beautiful failure.

Dear Reader;

Creative agency Block has been making things for over two decades—sometimes boldly, sometimes by sheer luck, occasionally by accident. Notes on Block is where we unpack it all: the triumphs, the missteps, the ideas that went nowhere but wouldn’t leave them alone. There are deep dives, casual conversations, loose threads, half-baked theories, and moments of clarity. We don’t have many answers, but we’ve collected a few good questions. Stay, wander, see what sticks.

volume 1

We do not learn from experience … we learn from reflecting on experience.
— John Dewey

THE FIRST INSTALMENT of an ever-expanding journal—part deep dive, part wandering reflection. VOLUME 1 features some of Block’s personal connections from around the globe, both past and present, from New York to Sydney. Whether it’s looking at how we support each other in the often inextricable worlds of business and life, exploring the ways in which we work, or reflecting on unrealised projects, these are stories worth telling, questions worth asking, and a few ideas that refuse to be forgotten.
